Daniel Asonye, Attorney
Daniel Asonye is a Labor and Employment law associate attorney with the firm. He originally joined the firm as a law clerk in 2019. Dan represents clients in all of employment and labor law counseling and litigation. His practice focuses on employment contracts litigation, gender, race age, disability, race discrimination and harassment. He also represents clients in the areas of FMLA, civil rights violations, 1981, 1983, 1985, 1986 actions, retaliatory discharge, wage and hour, overtime and whistleblower, gender violence as well as state law claims of assault, battery, false imprisonment, gender violence, intentional infliction of emotional distress, LGBT and Transgender matters.
Dan represents clients in various administrative agencies such as Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Illinois Department of Human Rights, Cook County Commission on Human Rights, Chicago Commission on Human Rights, as well as U.S. Department of Labor, Illinois Circuit court and US District Court. He assists clients through the administrative fact finding, settlement, mediation conferences as well as administrative hearings, bench and jury trials.
In 2022 Dan graduated from Southern Illinois University School of Law. From August 2021 to May 2022 Dan was a member of the school's Law Journal. During the same time, he was a member of the school's competitive Moot Court program. Dan also served as President of the SIU Law School Democrats. He was also a member of the school's social justice initiative from May 2020 to May 2022.
Dan is also civically engaged having organized voter registration drives and public demonstrations. From 2018-2020, Dan was an aide to the Mayor of Chicago's political campaign. Beginning in June 2021, Dan served as the First Vice President of the Young Democrats of Illinois.
